Statue of the apostle and evangelist Matthew in front of the parish church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Laxenburg. Matthew is the name of a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth and one of the twelve apostles. He is said to have been a publican before his calling. His symbol is the man, who is usually depicted winged and can thus take on the appearance of an angel.
