The Comoé-Léraba Classified and Partial Wildlife Reserve is located in the west of Burkina Faso, 530 km from Ouagadougou, the capital. It is located on the border with the Republic of Ivory Coast, around the confluence of the Comoé and Léraba rivers. The Comoé Léraba Forest and Partial Wildlife Reserve (FCRPF/CL) falls into the category of wildlife protection areas (WPA) in Burkina Faso. As such, its main vocation is the conservation and propagation of wildlife, as well as the development of its habitat. Moreover, since October 2009, the FCRPF/CL officially enjoys the status of Wetland of International Importance recognized by the Ramsar Convention. This gives it an additional vocation that requires special conservation provisions.
