Phonolite hand specimen

Description

A slab of phonolite recovered from a cliff near Long Beach, East Otago, NZ. It was formed by the crystallisation of lava rich in alkali metals, such as sodium and potassium. This model was assembled from photographs of a real specimen using Agisoft Metashape.
