Metakomatiite

Description

Spinifex texture komatiite (ultramafic composition volcanic rock) from the Red Lake Greenstone Belt, northwestern Ontario. The sample experienced retrograde metamorphism at greenschist facies. Spinifex olivine has been replaced by actinolite. Age = 3.0 Ga. Sample courtesy of Christie Rowe.
