Bivalve: Ostrea coxi (PRI 40844)

Description

Fossil specimen of the oyster *Ostrea coxi* from the Plio-Pleistocene of Sarasota County, Florida (PRI 40844). Specimen is from the collection of the [Paleontological Research Institution](http://www.priweb.org), Ithaca, New York. Maximum dimension of specimen is approximately 7.5 cm. The small, round hole in the shell was made by a predatory snail (likely a moon snail). Model by Emily Hauf.
