The single lens Bell & Howell Key Wind Filmo camera model 70 A came out in 1923. It was the first camera marketed to consumers instead of movie companies. The 16mm camera was a high-end luxury item priced almost equal to a new car at the time. The Filmo 70 A camera uses a spring mechanism to record footage onto 16mm film. The steel camera has no zoom. A later (35 mm) version of the Filmo camera (the Eyemo) was used by the famous Hungarion war photographer Robert Capa during his coverage of the Spanish Civil war.
