Located in the Bomber Command Museum of Canada in Nanton, Alberta. The Avro Lancaster is named in honor of Ian Bazalgette, a young Calgary pilot who flew these aircraft during the Second World War. While on a mission to destry a V1 flying bomb storage cave in France, Bazalgette and his crew were attacked and the aircraft was badly damaged. While most of the crew were able to bail out, two wounded crew were unable to jumb. Rather than abandon them, Bazalgatte attempted to land the Lancaster but it exploded on contact killing all three men. The Lancaster captured here is painted in the colors and markings of Bazalgette's aircraft in his honor. The Bazalgette Memorial Lancaster was captured using a Z+F 5010X scanner.
