Description

Splitting a whole liver graft into 3 usable grafts is no news, but using the medial segment as a monosegmental graft is an innovative endeavor. In this study, we evaluate the possibility of procuring both the left lateral segment and the medial segment as two split liver grafts from a single living donor. The recipients for liver transplantations are the donor's two children sufferring from the same metabolic liver disease. This model demonstrates the proposed medial segment graft. Supplied by the middle hepatic artery, portal branch to the medial segment, and drained by the middle hepatic vein.
