The Valdivian Coastal Reserve with its 50,585 hectares, is located in a hotspot of world biodiversity, where the conservation of species has a huge impact on ensuring the diversity of life on Earth for future generations. During the last Ice Age, the coastal forests of southern Chile provided plants and wildlife a refuge from low temperatures. As a result, the Valdivian coastal forests are home to some of Chile’s highest concentrations of unique species, found nowhere else on Earth.
