If you're in France, the food fest doesn't end with Christmas and New Year’s Eve (well, it kinda never ends, actually :). Early January comes the Epiphany and the "galette des rois", a 700-year old tradition. The king cake is made with puff pastry, and stuffed with a dense, creamy almond paste called frangipane. Because we don't have a boulangerie next door, my wike cooked a nice galette for the whole family. Plus, the king cake isn't just a delicious desert, it's also a playful moment where you get to "draw the kings" among the guests, so you can be the king (queen) for the day. Couldn't be more French, right?
