This is a scan of a 3D print down with a [MakerBot Cupcake CNC](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MakerBot). Originally the plastic filament was white but using different marker pen, it was colorised as it was fed into the printer. Scan was a test of Metashape Pro: - 3 separate chunks, each 30 images: top, middle and bottom of model - Using markers (metashape pro only), merged the chunks into a single chunk. Only merged the dense clouds, depth maps were ignored. - Before merging the dense clouds, reduced each so that overall overlap between dense clouds was minimal - Merge dense cloud was space-filtered (Metashape pro only) - Generated mesh from merged dense cloud, decimated, smoothed & texturized the mesh. Markers are a great win for merging chunks. It's pity that they are a Pro-only feature. It's just a pity there is a factor 20 price difference between Pro and Standard! About the scan: - Model size: 4x4x6 cms - Macro lens - 94 images, 3 angles @ ca. 30 images - 6000x4000 - Light source: LED right light
