Green Crag 16

Description

Prehistoric carving found in the Green Crag Slack area of Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire. Rectangular stone with weathered bedding planes. Boughey & Vickerman reference it IAG347 in their 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’ describing: ‘Medium sized, prominent, striated, rough grit rock. Approx. 12 cups, 1 with incomplete ring.’ The CSI: Rombalds Moor project subsequently recorded ‘Green Crag 16’ on ERA, noting similar motifs in addition to natural bowls. However, this model shows the partial ring is likely to be topography, rather than a carving.
