Headstone of Margaret Hair and Her Children

Description

This is a headstone in Newtyle Churchyard, Angus, Scotland and is dated 1766. I have annotated areas on the stone to explain the meanings of the symbols and also some of the wording. Have a look in matcap as this brings out the carvings to higher degree. Main inscription reads - Erected by David Tullo farmer in Auchtertyre in memory of his spouse Margaret Hair who departed this life March 29th 1762 aged 37 years. Also in memory of his daughter Elizabeth who died May 22nd 1763, aged 7 years. Helen died in the first year of her age 1769. Katherine died in the first year of her age 1766.
