The mould for making suppositories is made of three wooden and two metal parts. One of the metal elements is permanently embedded in the central wooden part, the other, smaller one, is movable. The wooden parts were turned, and the metal ones were cast. Suppositories (Latin suppositoria) are a form of medications made with the use of various devices, used to place medicinal substances in the cavities of the body. The mechanism of action of a suppository consists in the therapeutic agent influencing the mucosa. Rectal, vaginal, nasal and ear suppositories were made.
