Staurolite and garnet in muscovite schist 9-9

Description

The staurolite and garnet (an Fe-rich variety called almandine) in this specimen have about the same color. But, the staurolite crystals are elongated compared to the equant garnet crystals. Some of the staurolite crystals also appear to be rectangular or square. The specimen is 10.5 cm across.
