16th Century French Oak Chest

Description

Chest, rectangular two-plank top with overhanging edge; joined plain uprights and rails with four panels on front, each carved with architectural motifs of Gothic roundels and tracery above three arches; wrought iron lock-plate and hinges; panelled sides and back; inside a till at either end. Incomplete as only front and sides were accessible. part of Burrell Collection acc. 14.364
