Mastodon Pit, Gray Fossil Site, TN

Description

Gray Fossil Site paleontologists excavated a large, complete mastodon from this pit from 2015 through 2019. The mastodon was surrounded by large boulders that often required explosives to remove. There are also four other mastodons surrounding this large animal that are less well preserved. Photogrammetry model processed with Agisoft Metashape, April 2020.
