A women's brooch in which a cross, an anchor and a heart symbolizing faith, hope and love are placed, is exhibited at the permanent exhibition Through the blood go to freedom - the Battle of Miechów 1863. It was among other exhibits related to national mourning, i.e. the period before the January Uprising, after the repressions of the Russians against participants of religious ceremonies and against Catholic clergy, which started in 1861. During this time, women dressed in black and wore jewelry made of silver, copper, brass, steel, bone, wood or glass. The gold and precious stones were used to buy weapons for the January insurgents getting ready to fight.
