Common grave of honour of Leopold Carl Müller and August von Pettenkofen at Vienna Central Cemetery. Leopold Carl Müller (1834-1892) was an Austrian painter and draughtsman, he specialized in Orientalism. His most famous work is the market in Cairo from 1878. August von Pettenkofen (1822-1889) was an Austrian painter, lithographer and caricaturist. Pettenkofen was one of the greatest Biedermeier genre painters of the monarchy. Besides scenes of Viennese folk life, he created numerous small-format soldier and village scenes. Particularly typical are depictions of Hungarian and Slovakian markets, farms and carts. In 1893 he received a joint honorary grave with Leopold Carl Müller at the Vienna Central Cemetery, designed by Viktor Tilgner.
