HNoMs Nøkken

Description

The Hnomns Nøkken is a fictional coastal defence ship based around my personal challenge of creating a ship that had the same displacement as the Espana, but faster, better armoured and similarly armed, but also shallower in draught, whilst retaining a similar size. The Nøkken (the neck) is based off of Germanic shape shifting water spirits who would play an enchanted violin to lure out his victims into the water, where he would drown them. However one could bargen with one by spilling a drop of blood, an animal or some expensive alchohol. The Nøkken could shapeshift between his primary form, a man and a white horse. Not all had evil intentions as there is a story of one falling in love with a human, and then trying to live with her, however due to his nature he grew dispondant and yearned to return to the water.
