ID:EOA:2022.127 Collection: Earl of Abergavenny Classification: Military Measurements: Diametre 17mm Date made: as yet unknown Display: not on display Manufacturer/Creator: as yet unknown Credit: Portland Museum Trust In 1803, the 27th Light Dragoons, serving in India, were renumbered as the 24th, following that unit's disbandment in the UK. Quite why troops were still being raised for the 27th two years later is unknown. Fourteen members of the 24th/27th Light Dragoons were known to have been on board the Abergavenny, of whom ten were saved. The museum would be grateful for any more information on this button.
