Constructed of local sandstone the cemetery gate dates to ca. 1844. Design elements of the gate incorporate Gothic Revival, a style which will be applied to the cities Renwick Courthouse a few years later. In addition to the stylisitc elements the gate conveys, the fabication marks associated with the shaping of the sandstone survive remarkably well. Of specific note is the broach work created from a tool called a point.
