Mica schist, Manhattan NY, #79, 7-2

Description

This schist, from Central Park in NYC, contains biotite and muscovite, quartz, and (plagioclase) feldspar. The quartz and feldspar are both light colored but the quartz is more glassy gray and the feldspar is whiter. If you rotate and look carefully, you can find some small pinkish garnet crystals. The specimen is 10 cm in longest dimension.
