Weinfass

Description

Wine barrel advertising the "Weinviertel" (wine quarter) near the parish church of St. Katharina in Langenzersdorf. The name "Weinviertel" has been in use for about a century and refers to Austria's largest wine-growing region. Since the formation of the political districts in 1868, the quaters in Lower Austria no longer have a legal basis and are purely landscape designations.
