This headstone located in an aricultural field in East Galway was abandoned by the stone masons during carving. The field, was once an open quarry where limestone slabs could easily be removed from the surface. Stone Masons would often carve stones within a quary and remove them once completed. This was a riskey process as stones may break when being remove. This stone does not appear to be broken on the surface, and there are many local suggestions to why it is left in the middle of a field. It is part of the forgotten history and heritage of galways stone masons.
