Silchester Baths 2021. Caldarium. Context 5004.

Description

Excavated in 2021 in Trench 5. Collapse flooring overlying and partially crushing pilae and in-situ use deposits. We don't have much in the way of remains of flooring in the caldarium. Just this area of collapse and a large piece at the north end about 80cm long. Perhaps the antiquarian excavators cleared away alot of it to reveal the visually impressive pilae stacks.
