This plane tree in the old churchyard of St Peter at the corner of Cheapside and Wood Street is said to be the oldest in the City of London. It is one of the Great Trees of London. Once described as the most valuable tree in the world, its protected status forbids nearby buildings from being built any taller. Date: 1850 possibly Canopy not shown.
