An example of a negative leader, part of a lightning flash observed with the LOFAR radio telescope in the Netherlands. Leaders are formed when the flash's initial spark of plasma aquires positively and negatively charged ends in the storm's electric field. The negative leader grows downward and emits lots of radio energy which can be detected by LOFAR. # Technical This leader consists of 2k pulses in a text file. We wrote a custom reader for ParaView, then visualized the data as points and exported to glTF. The points are colored by age, with bright white pulses fading to shades of blue and purple over time. # Project Produced in collaboration with [Brian Hare](https://research.rug.nl/en/persons/brian-hare) and [Olaf Scholten](https://research.rug.nl/en/persons/olaf-scholten) at the University of Groningen. # What next?
