Coronary Blood Supply

Description

This model depicts the three main blood arteries involved in supplying blood to the heart. The LAD (Left Anterior Descending) The LAD and its branches supply the anterior 2/3 of the interventricular septum, the anterolateral papillary muscle, and the anterior surface of the left ventricle. (Note: this is the most cmmonly occluded of the coronary arteries). The PDA The PDA (arising from the RCA in most people) supplies the posterior 1/3 of the interventricular septum, the posterior 2/3 walls of the ventricles, and the posteromedial papillary muscle. The RCA The RCA supplies the right side of the heart, and the AV node and the SA node (which is why RCA occlusion may cause nodal dysfunction).. The RV is supplied by the marginal branch.
