A surprising new find at the Broughmore Wood site. This appears to be a or polishing rock, or polissoire - possibly for stone axes judging from the profile of the grooves and comparisons with other similar known sites. I've counted 34 grooves in total. A plan is now in the pipeline for a full excavation of the site, which it is hoped will shed more light on its chronology and, hopefully, reveal even of these more fascinating rock surfaces. This panel was recorded and 3D modelled by Nick Parish for Scotland's Rock Art Project (ScRAP).
